She formerly worked as CTO for a Zurich based IT services firm, prior to that as a Sr. software developer at Amazon Lab126 in Silicon Valley and holds a MSc in Computer Science from UCLA.

In its first year of operation, the programme had an annual budget of USD 2 million and largely focussed on supporting international NGOs. Since then, it has expanded to a programme with six staff and an annual budget of around USD 30 million, operating in diverse geographies with both local and international organisations.

Alexander Barkawi is the founder and director of the Council on Economic Policies (CEP) – an international economic policy think tank for sustainability focused on fiscal, monetary and trade policy. Prior to his decision to build up CEP, he was the managing director of SAM Indexes and thus responsible for developing the Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes (DJSI) into a key reference point for sustainability investing. Alex is a graduate in economics (M.A.) of the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland, where he also wrote his PhD thesis on “Social Change in Egypt in the 1990s”. He grew up in Germany and Egypt and today lives in Zurich, Switzerland.

independent philanthropy advisor and author of ‘Advising Philanthropists: Principles and Practice’
Emma Beeston is an independent philanthropy advisor to philanthropists, families and foundations. Her advice guides donors from exploring their values through to implementing their giving to achieve their philanthropic goals. Emma specialises in supporting those new to philanthropy and facilitating multigenerational giving. Prior to her current role, Emma worked for grant-making organisations including BBC Children in Need, Lloyds Bank Foundation and Comic Relief. Emma co-created with Beth Breeze the Advising Donors module for the Philanthropic Studies master’s degree programme at the University of Kent. She is also a lecturer on the Philanthropy, Grantmaking and Social Investment master’s degree programme at Bayes Business School and a trainer with the Association of Charitable Foundations. She wants philanthropy to be accessible to all and is co- founder of a giving circle, Bath Women’s Fund.

Dr Beth Breeze has an international profile as an academic expert on philanthropy. She worked as a fundraiser and charity manager for a decade before co-founding the Centre for Philanthropy at the University of Kent in 2008, where she now leads a team conducting research and teaching courses on philanthropy and fundraising. She has written several books, including The New Fundraisers and In Defence of Philanthropy, both of which won the Skystone Partners Prize for Research on Fundraising and Philanthropy. She co-edited The Philanthropy Reader and co-authored Richer Lives: Why rich people give, published by the Directory of Social Change. She has also written numerous peer-reviewed journal articles and practitioner-facing reports on philanthropy, fundraising and volunteering, and regularly provides media comment and speaks at charity sector conferences.

Benjamin Brühwiler is responsible for the area of “pre-school and primary school education” in Tanzania at the Arthur Waser Foundation. He holds a PhD in African History from Michigan State University and he taught and researched African history at the University of Basel before joining AWF in 2018. He has several years of work and research experience in Tanzania and is fluent in Kiswahili. Together with Ariane Waldvogel, he is the co-leader of the SwissFoundations working group “international cooperation”.

Für die Syngenta Stiftung kommunizert er seit 2010. Ehrenamtlich wirkt er im Stiftungsrat der Basler Kinderkrebs-Stiftung mit. Zu seinen weiteren Engagements gehören die Mitarbeit an einem Jugendmagazin, Einsätze in einer Lebensmittelabgabestelle sowie einigermassen unterhaltsame Sportreportagen. Deren Impakt hat Paul noch nicht wissenschaftlich untersucht.

Sie begann ihre berufliche Laufbahn im philanthropischen Sektor 2015 bei SwissFoundations, wo sie nacheinander als Projektmanagerin, Verantwortliche für Mitglieder & Aussenbeziehungen und als Westschweizer Geschäftsführerin tätig war. Zuvor war sie im Bereich der Nachhaltigkeit tätig. Aline hat zwei Masterabschlüsse in Politikwissenschaft und Umweltwissenschaften an der Universität Genf. Sie sitzt in den strategischen Ausschüssen von Board for Good, dem Centro Competenze Non Profit (Cenpro) und dem DAS Strategic and Operational Philanthropy der Universität Genf.

Studiert an der Universität Basel Philosophie und Geschichte und engagiert sich im Parlament der dortigen Studierendenschaft (skuba). Im akademischen Bereich leitete er schon diverse Tutorate und hatte eine Hilfsassistenz an der Basel Graduate School for History inne. Ausserhalb der Uni betätigte er sich sieben Jahre lang als Coach im regionalen Amateur-Fussball auf diversen Altersstufen.

Galbiati and Luginbühl’s poetics is an invitation for the spectators to open up their perceptive space and create their own reality on the boundaries between inner vision and outer sight. To date, Trickster-p's works have been presented extensively in Europe, Asia, Australia, North and South America.

He has experience working in South East Asia, and has led projects in the Central Africa, Madagascar, Indonesia and Colombia among others. SwissFoundations engagiert sich für den Wissens- und Erfahrungsaustausch, Good Governance, Professionalität und einen wirkungsvollen Einsatz von Stiftungsmitteln im Stiftungswesen. Julia Jakob hat an der Universität München Rechtswissenschaften studiert. Bevor sie 2007 in die Schweiz kam, war sie beim Freistaat Bayern als Richterin tätig am Verwaltungsgericht München sowie als Regierungsrätin am Bayerischen Staatsministerium des Innern und bei der Regierung von Oberbayern. Sie verfügt über langjährige Erfahrung als Geschäftsführerin von Stiftungen sowie als Stiftungsrätin.

Thomas Sprecher hat zuerst Germanistik und Philosophie, dann Recht studiert. Er arbeitet seit 1992 als Rechtsanwalt bei Niederer Kraft Frey AG, Zürich. Dabei berät er zu allen Fragen des Stiftungsrechts. Er hat mehrere Bücher (zuletzt Stiftungsrecht in a nutshell, 2. Aufl. 2023; Swiss Foundation Law, 2023) und zahlreiche Artikel zum Stiftungsrecht publiziert und ist Mit-Autor des Swiss Foundation Code. Er war und ist Präsident und Mitglied mehrerer Stiftungsräte sowie Mitglied des Legal Council von SwissFoundations.

Gerald, a dual Swiss and German citizen, has been Secretary General of the World Organisation Against Torture - OMCT since 2011.
He is also a co-chair of the EU Human rights defender’s protection mechanism - protectdefenders.eu. Previously, he served with the International Commission of Jurists as Director of its Global Security and Rule of Law Initiative and at the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) in Warsaw, coordinating rule of law and anti-torture projects, including prison reform projects in Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union.

Ses recherches portent sur les liens entre l'utilisation des ressources (énergie et matériaux, émissions de gaz à effet de serre) et la performance sociétale (activité économique et bien-être humain).
Depuis 2023, elle codirige le project EU ERC Synergy "REAL- A Post-Growth Deal" sur les sociétés post-croissance. Elle est aussi auteure principal du 6e rapport d'évaluation du GIEC au sein du groupe de travail 3.

Joséphine von Mitschke-Collande ist bei der Stiftung Mercator verantwortlich für das Thema Suffizienz. Gemeinsam mit Förder-Partner:innen ermöglicht sie transformative Initiativen, die dazu beitragen, dass wir innerhalb der planetaren Grenzen ein gutes Leben führen können. Joséphine hat mehr als 15 Jahre Erfahrung im Bereich Nachhaltigkeit mit dem Fokus auf ganzheitliche Veränderungen für sozial-ökologische Transformation. Sie ist Expertin in der interdisziplinären und systemischen Innovationsförderung. Zuvor hat Joséphine für Climate-KIC gearbeitet, Europas grösstem öffentlich-privaten Netzwerk für Innovationen im Bereich Nachhaltigkeit. Darüber hinaus hat sie in einer Innovationsagentur die Forschungsinitiative Paradigm Shift geleitet, die interdisziplinäre Forschung auf der Grundlage von Konzepten für komplexe Systeme und Netzwerke entwickelte. Sie war ebenfalls für den Club of Rome und für mehrere internationale Organisationen wie die Europäische Kommission, die UNO und die UNESCO tätig.

Lukas von Orelli ist promovierter Jurist mit einem Lizenziat in Ökonomie. Nach ersten beruflichen Erfahrungen in der Vermögensverwaltung erlangte er zuerst das Anwaltspatent und baute dann eine Stiftung zur Förderung von Jungunternehmern in der Region Basel auf. Seit 2004 ist Lukas von Orelli Geschäftsführer der VELUX STIFTUNG in Zürich, einer grösseren internationalen Förderstiftung. Er engagiert sich ferner ehrenamtlich in unterschiedlichen Stiftungs- und Vereinsgremien. Insbesondere seit 2010 im Vorstand von SwissFoundations, wo er von 2016 bis 2023 das Präsidium innehatte. Lukas von Orelli engagiert sich darüber hinaus im Stiftungsrecht, namentlich durch seine Dissertation «Zur Auslegung des Stifterwillens», als Referent an den Universitäten Zürich und Basel und als Mit-Herausgeber des Onlinekommentars zum Recht der juristischen Personen.

Er studierte Betriebswirtschaftslehre mit Nebenfach Politikwissenschaften an den Universitäten Bamberg, Fribourg und Bern. Georg von Schnurbein ist Mitglied im Editorial Board von «Nonprofit Management & Leadership» und Mit-Herausgeber des Swiss Foundation Code. Seine Forschungsschwerpunkte sind NPO Governance, Finanzmanagement in NPO und Wirkungsmessung.

Philipp von der Wippel is the co-manager of ProjectTogether, a non-profit organization that drives social transformation by orchestrating collective action. He had founded ProjectTogether in 2012 at the age of 16 as a student. With his team, he has since then initiated 10 mission-oriented social innovation processes tackling social challenges such as climate change, plastic pollution, or the covid-pandemic. Among ProjectTogether’s activities are #WirVsVirus, the world’s biggest hackathon and its following implementation program, which supported and scaled 150 solutions from civil society for the Covid-crisis in 2020 under the patronage of the German chancellery. Born in Munich, Philipp studied philosophy, politics and economics at the University of Oxford. He has been an honorary board member of Social Entrepreneurship Network Germany (SEND e. V.) since 2019.

Ariane is the Executive Director of the Pro Victimis Foundation since April 2016. After a few years spent with an NGO in Lebanon, she made her career with the United Nations (UNDP and WFP) and the Swiss Development Cooperation (SDC). Over the years, she has held various posts abroad, in Africa and Asia, as well as in New York and Geneva for the Swiss Mission to the United Nations.

Regula Wolf ist Expertin für Fragen rund um die Förderung. Dabei kann sie auf ihr langjähriges Praxiswissen zurückgreifen. Sie war während 16 Jahren in der institutionellen Förderung tätig, zuerst im Bundesamt für Kultur, danach beim Migros-Kulturprozent, wo sie als Leiterin der Abteilung “Förderbeiträge” die kulturellen und sozialen Förderbereiche verantwortete. Im Rahmen ihrer Beratungstätigkeit hat sie zahlreiche grosse und kleine private und öffentliche Förderorganisationen bei der Entwicklung einer wirkungsorientierten Förderstrategie begleitet. Als Spin-off des Center for Philanthropy Studies (CEPS) der Universität Basel bringt Con·Sense aktuelles Forschungswissen mit langjähriger Praxiserfahrung zusammen und begleitet Nonprofit-Organisationen, Unternehmen und Behörden in strategischen und operativen Fragen.

Nach seinem Studium der internationalen Betriebswirtschaftslehre an der Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien und der Universidad Autónoma de Madrid begann Stephan Zacke seine Karriere in der Unternehmensberatung in Österreich und der Schweiz. Im Rahmen seiner Tätigkeit betreute er Banken und Finanzdienstleister bei strategischen und operativen Fragestellungen rund um die Themen Prozessoptimierung und -implementierung, Digitalisierung und Regulatorik. Seit 2019 ist Stephan Zacke Geschäftsführer der AVINA Stiftung. Die seit 1994 bestehende Förderstiftung unterstützt Pioniere im Bereich der nachhaltig produzierten und gesunden Ernährung. Als Geschäftsführer leitet er die operativen Geschicke der Stiftung und verantwortet gemeinsam mit dem Stiftungsrat die Vermögensbewirtschaftung der Stiftung.
