About the Issues Affecting Women Programme (IAWP): IAWP supports women’s rights groups, organizations, networks and movements globally to build a world in which women have the rights, capacity and opportunity to experience safety from violence and to enjoy their full and equal human rights. We want to help build a strong and vibrant women’s movement that is empowered to challenge patriarchal norms, tackle the root causes of inequality, and demand the full spectrum of women’s rights.

A major focus of our strategy is to enable women to leave violent and controlling relationships by supporting groups that provide services that empower women to recover from trauma and thrive. Psychological abuse in intimate partner relationships is an emerging field that we are investing in.

Purpose of the Role: Oak Foundation is looking for a Programme Officer with experience in field building and/or psychological abuse, coercion and control to help us build on the successes of our grantees who are working on domestic violence. As the Programme Officer, you will work closely with the lead Trustees and the Issues Affecting Women Programme team to increase knowledge of the field of psychological abuse, embed learning across our growing domestic violence portfolio, build and manage a portfolio of grants that will contribute to changing the wider domestic violence sector, and support service providers to recognise, address and intervene to end psychological violence, coercion and control in all its forms.

The IAWP team has high standards. We are collegial, mutually supportive and joyful. We are looking for a new team member who is excited about making a difference in the sector, is comfortable leading from behind and who draws energy from supporting women working on the front lines to end violence.

The Trafigura Foundation was established in November 2007 and acts as the Group’s philanthropic arm. With an annual budget of close to USD7 million, the Foundation provides grants to some 30 charities and partners with expert organisations to deliver positive, sustainable impact in the broad areas of ‘Safe and Clean Supply Chains’ and ‘Fair and Sustainable Employment’. Similarly, the Puma Energy Foundation was established in 2013 to play a comparable role for Trafigura investment Puma Energy, with an annual budget of approximately USD1 million.

Managed by the same team, both foundations work in very close interaction with Trafigura and Puma Energy employees, with the ambition to nurture an informed, participatory connection between them and the communities in the countries where the companies operate. The foundations also encourage the involvement of staff in community-oriented initiatives, in particular through a Matching Funds scheme and the network of Charity Committees in the main regional offices.

Reporting to the Head of Programmes, the Programme Officer (hereafter the PO) supports the management of the Foundation’s programme portfolio and its spending relating to the corresponding grants with a view to ensuring that all funds are used for the purposes stated and the projects are performing within agreed parameters. In particular, the PO develops tools and templates that facilitate the administration of grants. The PO also fosters and facilitates connections between the programmes funded by the Foundation and the corporate offices and employees in the region or country, in close collaboration with the Communication Manager. The PO will join a team of 5, consisting in the Executive Director, the Head of Programmes, the Programme Manager, the Communication Manager and the Administrative Assistant. The team is based in downtown Geneva.
