Webinar: Bridging the gap: from science evidence to policy making – successes, challenges, roles of foundations

09h00 - 10h00

Online

Arbeitskreise

Building on the insights from our previous webinar Bridging the Gap from scientific knowledge to public benefits with the perspective of a think tank, this session takes the conversation further: how does scientific evidence reach policy? How can foundations effectively catalyse the translation of scientific knowledge into effective public policy?

This webinar will bring insights from the work of the European Academies Science Advisory Council (EASAC). EASAC brings together national academies from Switzerland, the EU, Norway, and the UK to deliver independent, evidence-based advice on key topics to relevant national and EU policymakers. Through real-world examples, Professors Wim van Saarloos (President) and Brian Norton (Vice-President) will share how EASAC navigates the complex terrain of science-for-policy—highlighting both successes and challenges.

This webinar will:

  • Offer a behind-the-scenes look at the approach of EASAC and their impact
  • Explore the evolving landscape of science-policy
  • Invite foundations to reflect on their potential roles in strengthening the science-policy interface

Join us to gain practical insights on the science for policy interface, share experiences / challenges / interrogations and explore collaboration opportunities.

About the speakers:
EASAC is the voice of independent science advice in the European Union, mobilising Europe’s leading scientists to guide EU policy for the benefit of society.
