EFC General Assembly and Conference
22. Mai 2019 -

The 2019 European Foundation Centre Annual General Assembly and Conference will take place from 22-24 May in Paris, under the title “Liberté, égalité, philanthropie”.
Liberté, égalité, fraternité!”: who isn’t familiar with the French national motto which finds its roots in the Revolution of 1789 but is still considered the rallying call for freedom, equality and solidarity around the world today? Yet despite their universal nature and appeal, these three ideals are not (yet) fully realised: they continue to represent aims rather than achievements due to an array of critical and constantly evolving challenges. Bearing this in mind, how can European foundations: - Respond to the migration crisis as a challenge to freedom of circulation, an indicator of global inequalities and a test to human brotherhood? - Address the threats to freedom of speech and freedom of the press in an age of fake news and post-truth politics? - Help bridge long-standing inequalities in access to education, culture or health, and more recent ones such as the consequences of climate change or the digital divide? - Promote human rights in Europe, thirty years after the fall of the Iron Curtain? - Encourage new forms of solidarity and inclusion? Is philanthropy a modern adaptation of ‘brotherhood’?

EFC Annual General Assembly 2018: Culture Matters – Connecting Citizens and Uniting Communities
29. Mai 2018 -
1000 Brüssel
Culture is one of the most valuable yet often least appreciated commodities we have. It’s about shared experiences, bringing different people together to share a common interest. Culture creates personal connections – to societies, communities, identities and, most importantly, to other people. At its strongest, it provokes a feeling of belonging.
Taking place during the 2018 European Year of Cultural Heritage, the 29th EFC AGA and Conference will be a cornerstone of Philanthropy Week – a series of exciting exhibitions, topical sessions and thought-provoking site visits. Brussels, a city synonymous with diversity, will be both host and gateway into an exciting world of culture – artistic, linguistic, architectural and much more besides – to celebrate its intrinsic value and the zest that it brings to life.
