Working Group International Cooperation welcomes new co-chairs

The Working Group on International Cooperation (WGIC) welcomes two new co-leaders. We are delighted to introduce Katharina Pompilio and Catriona Gourlay and look forward to working with them!

Katharina Pompilio is the Chief Programme Officer at Fondation Botnar. She holds a law degree from the Universities of Fribourg and Paris II, specialising in European and international law. As a former diplomat, she brings a thorough understanding of bilateral and multilateral diplomacy, international law, and political communication. Prior to joining the foundation, she oversaw the programmes of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) in Eastern Europe, gaining extensive experience in leadership and fostering impactful teams and portfolios. At Fondation Botnar, she leads the implementation of the philanthropic strategy, overseeing the overall management and effectiveness of our grant making activities.

As PeaceNexus’ Executive Director, Catriona Gourlay guides the foundation’s overall strategic direction and oversees the foundation’s services and programmes. Before joining PeaceNexus in 2012, Catriona worked as an independent consultant, providing research, analysis and training to organisations working in conflict-affected contexts. From 2005 to 2009, she was the Marie Curie Research Fellow at the United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research, where she conducted projects on EU and UN crisis management and peacebuilding. From 1995 to 2005, she was the founding Executive Director of the International Security Information Service, Europe, an independent research organisation based in Brussels working on European conflict prevention, peacebuilding and security policy. Catriona holds a PhD in International Relations from Lancaster University, a Masters in International Relations from the University of Pennsylvania and a BA in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from the University of Oxford.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank Benjamin Brühwiler, Ariane Waldvogel, and Thomas Först, who have contributed their dedication and expertise to make the working group an invaluable learning and networking platform over the past few years. We look forward to having you continue as members.
